The birth of a new ship is an extraordinary  occasion. Orion’s inaugural season is especially remarkable
because it marks a new standard in small ship expedition cruising. To thank you for joining us and to celebrate
Orion’s creation, we invite you to
join our special events during the
inaugural sailing season. At the end of your voyage, you will receive a commemorative
pin and an exclusive gift
package. Travelers’ names will also be
entered into a drawing to win a free cruise in 2005.

The New Expedition Cruise Ship ORION

The 106-guest Orion is not only the newest expedition ship afloat, it is also the finest. With such advanced technological attributes as an ice-strengthened

hull,  stabilizers, and bow as well as stern thrusters for easy maneuverability, Orion offers both great comfort and superior safety.

While its technical features enable it to explore some of the world’s most remote regions, it is Orion’s accommodations that set it apart from other expedition ships. All
staterooms and suites are exterior and feature a sitting area or living room, TV/DVD, CD player, mini-refrigerator, safe deposit box, private bathroom, ample closet space, and twin beds that can be converted to a queen-size bed. A large oval or rectangular window or sliding glass floor-to-ceiling windows afford excellent views of the passing scenery and ports of call.

In its inviting public areas, it is easy to forget that Orion is an expedition ship. A magnificent glass atrium and elevator dominate the center of the ship, extending from the lowest deck to the highest. Orion offers such added amenities as a gym, sauna, whirlpool, masseuse, hairdresser, boutique, lecture hall, several lounges, library, and an Internet center. A spacious restaurant accommodates all guests at a single unassigned seating, and a café off the main lounge is also available for dining alfresco.

As elegant and comfortable as it is, Orion never loses sight of its purpose as an expedition cruise ship. A spacious observation lounge on the top deck opens onto a full wraparound deck for optimal viewing. A mud room on the lower deck stores parkas, boots, and other equipment used during a day of exploration. And a fleet of ten heavy-duty, Zodiac inflatable motorized boats make it possible to land in shallow areas and navigate small rivers and waterways.
