Today we

Steve along the base of this marvelous “Mountain of Fire”. The hike
will begin
on the active side of the volcano, and will take us through the lush forest over
recent lava flows to the destroyed area now in the process of
regeneration. This moderate 2.5-hour hike will take us as close as five
hundred meters from recent lava flows.
Lunch today will be at Arenal
Observatory Lodge, providing a view of the volcano crater that is just
amazing, returning to
Tabacón in the late afternoon.
Later we’ll drive to
nearby Arenal Kioro lookout point for additional spectacular volcano views

El Silencio Cloud Forest

This morning
we bid farewell to Arenal and begin our journey back to San José. On the way
we will stop in one of Costa Rica’s most unique habitats, a cloud forest.
Located within the grounds of a beautiful hotel, El Silencio de Los Angeles cloud
forest walk is a network of trails carefully engineered to allow maximum
enjoyment of the plants, animals and birds in this habitat. With only 2.5%
of the planet's cloud forest remaining, the unique energy of this cloud
shrouded habitat is a marvel to behold. Late this afternoon we
will return to San
José for check-in to the hotel and our farewell dinner at nearby restaurant.
