Day 1 Mon, March 28, 2005                                                       Meals aloft
Miami or Los Angeles - Santiago, Chile

    Depart for Santiago, Chile per your own schedule, or join our cruise/air program departing from Miami or Los Angeles arriving in Santiago early in the morning of March 29th.

   
 

Day 2 Tues, March 29                                                               Breakfast
Santiago

    Upon arrival in Santiago, we will be met by our representative and assisted with transfers to our hotel. The balance of the day will be free to relax, refresh, and explore the city. Overnight: Santiago Marriott, Santiago

   
 

Day 3 Wed, March 30                                                               Breakfast
Easter Island, Chile

    This morning will be yours to spend as you wish. We will enjoy a Santiago city tour en route to the airport for our late afternoon flight to Easter Island. We’ll arrive in the late evening and transfer to our hotel.
Overnight: Taha Tai, Easter Island (3 nights)

   
 
   
 

Days 4-5 Thu-Fri, March 31 – April 1                                         B/L and B/L
Easter Island

    Over the next two days we will explore this island’s ancient archaeological sites shrouded in mystery. Staff archaeologists will take us to numerous moai (giant statues), petroglyphs, and many other intriguing and unique archaeological sites scattered across the island.

   
 

Day 6 Sat, April 2                                                                     B/L/D
Easter Island

    Following breakfast, we will transfer to the pier and board Zodiac boats for our transfer to the World Discoverer, our home away from home for the next 18 nights. Settle in and meet fellow travelers, lecturers and expedition team, including our Sky & Telescope staff editor. Overnight: World Discoverer (18 nights)         

   
 

Day 7 Sun, April 3                                                                     B/L/D
At Sea

    Today we will be at sea en route to Ducie Island. Later, we’ll have the opportunity to visit the ship’s bridge, relax on deck or in one of the World Discoverer’s comfortable lounges.

   
 

Day 8 Mon, April 4                                                                     B/L/D
At Sea

    A full program of lectures will be offered throughout the day. Today is also a good day to catch up on your journals and postcards, browse the World Discoverer’s reference library, or relax with your fellow passengers.
